TITLE: US 136 in Lee County.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to the bridge realignment in Lee County in 1994, the official description of US 136 in Lee County should be revised to reflect this change.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of US 136 in Lee County be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description, as described in the attachment, be included in the Primary Road System.

New Description - US 136 and its extensions in Lee County described as follows:

Beginning on the Iowa-Missouri State line (The Des Moines River) at a point just west of the east line of Section 33-T65N-R5W; thence in a northeasterly direction through said Section 33 to the west corporation line of Keokuk connecting with 7th Street.

Keokuk:

Beginning on 7th Street at the west corporation line; thence easterly and northeasterly on 7th Street to Main Street; thence southeast on Main Street to an unnamed street; thence southeasterly on unnamed street to the east corporation line (Iowa-Illinois State line).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, US 136 in Lee County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

US 136 begins at Iowa‑Missouri state line near the southwest edge of Keokuk and travels in an easterly direction via Keokuk to the Iowa‑Illinois state line near the south edge of Keokuk, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate US 136 and its extension in Lee County, Iowa as follows:

Beginning on the Iowa‑Missouri state line (The Des Moines River) at a point approximately 700 feet west of the east line of Section 33‑T65N‑R5W; thence in a northeasterly direction through said Section 33 to the west corporation line of the City of Keokuk, connecting with an unnamed street.

Keokuk:

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northeasterly, easterly, northeasterly, southeasterly, and easterly to the east corporation line (Iowa‑Illinois State line).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Deportment of Transportation approve the location of US 136, Lee County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

NOTE: Designation to become effective upon the completion and opening to traffic of Relocated US 61, more specifically Lee County Project F-1073.
